Why does VetiOx work better than other odor eliminators?
For our customers that want the simple answer:
Simply put the reason why VetiOx Odor Eliminator is better than competing products is that it actually does what it is says it will do. The technology behind it is called oxidation. VetiOx Odor Eliminator uses oxidation to physically change the chemistry of the odor causing culprit. Some competitors attempt to use oxidation as the method to destroy odors but they cannot match the oxidative capacity that VetiOx provides. Until now this oxidative process has not been available.
For the chemistry enthusiasts, the scientific answer:
VetiOx Odor Eliminator chemistry is a redox reaction. As the fluid in the bottle passes by the active resin in the spray tube it breaks the bonds of the salts in the fluid to release the active chlorine dioxide. What exits the spray bottle is chlorine dioxide, water and some remaining dissolved salts. Chlorine dioxide is considered the gold standard of odor elimination yet has been difficult and dangerous to manufacture and impossible to provide for everyday use.
What is chlorine dioxide?
It is not bleach. It is not chlorine (as commonly defined).Chlorine dioxide is an EPA approved gas in water that is used to clean municipal drinking water and eliminate biofilms in the water systems of paper mills.
Chlorine dioxide is a non-persistent selective oxidizer that is an extremely reactive (oxidative) when produced. Due to its reactivity once created, it rapidly loses its effectiveness and because of this reactivity it only takes a few minutes of contact time to destroy all odors. This fast reactivity is so short that it has little to no effect on living tissues and as it reacts it returns to salt and water.
What are the advantages of VetiOx for pet owners, veterinarians and groomers?
Pet and animal odors are a nuisance to humans but are important to animals in many ways.
In removing nuisance pet odor VetiOx Odor Eliminator has no equal as it destroys the odors by chemically changing them.
Pet and animal odors that are created as a result of normal animal response to stress, anxiety and fear, as well as reproductive processes, are both a nuisance and a stimulant to other nearby animals to respond similarly. Removing odor and scents from the clinic, service area and home is important to reduce animal anxiety and improve upon the clinic and grooming experience.
VetiOx is the most effective odor eliminator that uses oxidation to destroy odor and scents. Other odor products focus on the human response to the odor and in doing so rely on masking or attempting to encapsulate the odor or scent. Harsher products that use disinfectants are potentially harmful to both humans and animals when they come into contact with them physically and through inhalation.
The reaction time of VetiOx Odor Eliminator is so fast it does not harm soft or hard surfaces as well as animals or humans. It is fast, safe and extremely effective. What more could you want?
Why is this Green Chemistry technology available now?
VetiOx Odor Eliminator was created using ReliOx technology. ReliOx technology is the invention of the University of Florida scientists that was originally developed for the United States Department of Defense as a response to wartime chemical neutralization. The lessons learned from that research resulted in technology that has a very important place in animal care. You will be seeing additional products specifically formulated for other animal care issues. Our technology uses and follows all 12 of the Green Chemistry principles in our research, development and production.
“Green Chemistry reduces toxicity, minimizes waste, saves energy, and cuts down on the depletion of natural resources. It allows for advances in chemistry to occur in a much more environmentally benign way.”

If it has chlorine in it – is it safe and non- toxic?
First, yes, it is both safe and non-toxic. You may add environmentally safe and recyclable to this as well.
Secondly, there are many types of chemicals and compounds that contain the name chlorine. Table salt is chemically called Sodium Chloride (NaCl). Pool chlorine is Sodium Hypochlorite or Hypochlorous Acid. Some products in the pet and animal industry use these chemicals to spray on animals and pets today. We do not use these versions of chlorine. Chlorine dioxide (ClO2) is not chlorine as many people understand chlorine to be defined. In our molecule it is the oxygen that is doing the work, not the chlorine. This is why it is considered a “pristine” molecule.
Why is it an advantage that it is patented?
ReliOx Corporation’s six U.S. Patents ensure that that the inventions covered by these patents have been rigorously examined and found to be unique and worthy of patent protection. No other company or person can legally produce products based on the same inventions as ReliOx’s products.
What does it mean that it won a CADE award?
Coming in second at the CADE award demonstrated the evolution of the ReliOx technology into commercially viable products. This was a big step for ReliOx. It opened the door to opportunities under the VetiOx brand as well as many other applications in industries that struggle today with odor control and other issues where the technology works wonderfully. Can I use this on my pet’s fur? In their litter box? In their cage?
Yes, yes and yes. When applying VetiOx Odor Eliminator to the pet always keep the spray away from eyes, nose and mouth. Otherwise contact with the animal is fine.
Litter boxes are a source of a tremendous amounts of odor from urine and feces as well as chemicals that may be an ingredient in to the litter being used. VetiOx Odor Eliminator will oxidize these odors. As there is a lot going on chemically in the litter box, it may take numerous applications to eliminate the odor. Cages are a great place to use the product. please ensure remove soiled bedding and toys from cages. Wash and treat these separately.
How long will the odor stay away? Do I have to use it daily?
The odor will be gone and will not return unless the area is once again soiled or marked.
I need more than just a spray bottle. Is there an industrial size version of VetiOx spray?
There is a unit that produces up to 45 gallons of product ready to use in your sprayer, fogger or other device. Contact VetiOx for more information.
Why is this better than an enzyme alternative?
Enzymes are biological compounds that increase the speed at which other smelly biological substances like starches, oils, fats, and proteins break down, so you can wipe away messes easily.
The best answer is that as enzyme alternatives attempt to change the odor causing elements into non or less odiferous elements there often remains an odor. It is up to the human and the animal to decide if the odor continues to be offensive or not. VetiOx Odor Eliminator leaves nothing behind other than water and salt.
Where can I buy it? What if I want to distribute or sell it at my store?
It is available through many on-line stores and distributors as well as independent pet and animal retailers and wholesale outlets. If it is not in the store you frequent please let them know you would like them to start carrying VetiOx Odor Eliminator.
I received the product and I cannot get it to spray. Am I doing something wrong?
We are sorry if you are having trouble with the spray bottle. If after you have unscrewed the spray nozzle 1 and 1/2 turns and pumped the trigger handle at least 20 -30 times and still have not been able to draw fluid up the spray wand please contact us through the website with your name and mailing address and we will send you a replacement spray head. Sometimes plastic from the molding process becomes lodged in the spray head which does not allow for the bottle to be primed. Again we apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you.
